Friday

Wrote my first referral in about 2 years.
Grading papers all day for squirrrrrly kids that just want a fall break.
Came home to this.
I feel bad that she has to lay on the hard floor, until she does this.

This half week in review

Swap meet in Martinsville.  Is it bad when you know 20+ people that are there?
Picked up some old hondaline bags and a kickstand for the XR500.  Nothing too exciting.
Harley crap everywhere......

Monday was Shellac at Radio Radio ( www.futureshock.net ).  Was never really into or not into them but the show was pretty good.  I miss going to shows....  Shonen Knife will be here in November!

 Garage:
Zach's CL200 has blown more fuses than I ever have in my whole life I think.  It looks like a monkey tried to re-wire the ignition. . . . .  Good luck Zach, I wash my hand of that unless you want to rip it all out and start from scratch.

I stripped my C110 down all the way to get it ready for paint.  Do I pay a bunch of money to get it done right or do I do an OK job myself for the price of a few rattle cans?

Engine removal for the Gunz

Bro-down.
Fo-realz.
Ben helped too!
Jeff held it down in the garage.
It was fun watching you guys during extraction.
A real joy.
Too bad it didn't rain harder, then it would have gotten interesting.
 Cheese for miles.
 Irresistible charm.
Let's hope this engine has good compression.....

Moyou got a shower from mother nature today and was bummed at me for it.
So I let her lick my face to make her feel better.
Today in the backyard I realized that my dog can do burnouts and she drifts when she runs too.
Simply riveting.

Cb77 Superhawk chopper - -Carbs

I have seen worse.
I only have one float bowl, heard they are the same carb as a cb750-4.
Just gotta get a bowl...I am pretty sure the 350 float is the same size as this.
Scary pre-dip parts man.  (Ventilation....needed in the garage)
Okay-clean.  The bodies are going to need another dip.
I was just ready to call it a night.  Cleaned up nice.

1955 Guide

I came across this at Midland antique store ( www.midlandathome.com ) this past Sunday.  It was one of only 2 things I was able to buy....if I actually build a bigger garage, about 1500 dollars is getting dropped at Midland for some vintage cabinetry, stools, and workbenches, etc......

1955 tourist guide to Japan published by Mainichi newpaper in 1955.  They also had the 1956 guide but this one looked way more interesting.  I will, like the old motorcycle magazine, want to post some of the more interesting things I find.

Today, we start with the 50's style from cover, the back page, and a pull out map of Tokyo.  Enjoy?

This is a really sad scan of the map.  It is crazy to see this and think about how Tokyo has filled out since then....

Barn fresh chopper CB77 acquisition

Just got a new bike......70's chopper fresh CB77. It's going to take some work but I am not even trying to do it yet.  .  .  . another winter project.

The cb/cl350's are Type 2.  OOOOOooo..
Where did the bowl go?  Oh, and the slides are stuck in the top of the carb.

Garage night every night lately

Gunnar finished the first round of rust remover and took the forks off for inspection
cleaning up a little on the wire wheel
I love that I don't really have to do anything for him, just show him once and let him figure it out.
This is how he wanted to do it.  Stoked!
The wiring and chopping on Christina's C110 is almost done.  Cut out the kidney to make room for the battery.  Put in a switch and fuse, add some mounts and it is ready to roll again.  I rebuilt the petcock today too. Too much gas work the last two days.  My brain is kinda fried.
Moyou hasn't gotten enough attention lately.  Couldn't have her out tonight because of all the wire brushing and grinding.....tomorrow we play!

Monon.....

Just a few minutes ago.....in exchange for a little air in the bicycle tire I get.....

"Onethem hispanic dranks"

Bikes and more bikes and Mikuni carbs....

Weekend of bikes and translation

Grant came over last night and we put new shorty shocks and smaller turn signals on his bike.  The cb5000/550's look so much better with shorter shocks...lines baby, lines.
Christina and I were going to go on a dream ride (both 60's Honda's) and of all things it was her brand new carb that messed up.......
I think I hate Mikuni carbs.....maybe not though.  Custom tool.....

Grass Track riding tips

Grass-Track riding must have been mighty popular overseas in the 60's to dedicate a 2 page spread to riding technique!  I wanna try............

Going ridin' not on the freeway with the southwesties.

Done it a few times, never gets old.  Back roads south-west indy.

Ben's All-American Harley Davidson

Hutch is a headlight in Grants' cb500.  Glad its up and running!

Grant has a tank with Indiana on it.

Plaid.  I guess it was fall today.
Funny, I seem to remember a 100 degree day less than a week ago.....

Smiles for miles, good crew.  Thanks for leading-->Hutch.
Would have made this picture look all panoramic and crap but Ben already did it...

Rikuo RQ (Honda Collection Museum)

Rikuo RQ
This is a 1955 Rikuo RQ, post-war version of the 750RS.  These were actually produced under official license from Harley at the time and used as a police bikes and transport for newspaper dispatch riders.  So this is basically a flathead engine in a smaller frame.  I would love to have one of these bikes....They are really, rare even in Japan.  Masaru said there is a person in Tsukuba that he sees riding one sometimes though..........this or was it a Meguro.....

If you are a Harley lover, know your history:

Shawna's Vroom (Honda C110 Sport 50)

Christina's is up and running, Zach's lady Shawna got one too!  Tank was pretty clean, needs the normal, engine was shot...........soo......
We swap~!  Second time around makes it twice as easy.
Still need the exhaust to make run and ride.
This is Shawna test driving at Major Taylor.
Still waiting on the rectifier/regulator for both bikes so we can run lights and batteries.
A few more modifications around the corner too.......
