50's Ariel Colt find

I was looking all over the web trying to find out what size chain will work for this Ariel Colt rear sprocket and wheel I have (and locate some brakes shoes for it...) and I ran into these pictures of a restored bike.  It is the same color as my frame......I wish I had that box on the rear left of the frame to put on my bike......

The carb is turned 90 degrees!  I have never seen that before.
I would really like to locate some fork seals, brake shoes, rear fender, and that box at the back of the bike for my build....maybe I can search for the stuff when I go there for spring break?  Gotta start looking now....

1961 Honda CB77.  Beautiful.....

I was lucky enough to get one of these fresh out of barn somewhere....freshly choppered out.  I need to work on it but parts are so hard to find at a decent price.  I could but and fix up another bike for the price of the left mounting bracket, kick stand and kick start arm.......

Hutchs' Fiberglass CB100 Seat - Part 1

Hutch decided to build a nice fiberglass seat for his CL 100 build.
Since it was over here, I warmed up the garage and watched him take care-o-business.

First layer done.
Sizing everything up.
Fumes are starting to get to us....

Fumes are starting to get to Hutch more than me apparently.

Time for layer two.
I think he got 3 layers done yesterday.
Might be time to pop it off today?

1965 Datsun 1200 Pickup

While letting the resin setup between layers on Hutchs' CB100 fiberglass seat we went a little west of downtown to check out this 1965 Datsun 1200 pickup.  Minimal rust and starts right up.  Brakes and clutch need some attention...He wants more than I can afford but I eventually want one of this beauties to restore/rat out like we do bikes.  The bed is still long enough to fit bikes in too....

From the front

Engine looked decent.....the airbox had been taken off at this point.  1200CC engine.....

The bottom little knobby thing swings open to reveal a key slot.....

The inside was beautiful.  This is just one of the many little details that makes this truck sick.

Rally style steering wheel. (according to Doug)

Big bucket seat.

The downward facing tail section lighting is pimpin'.
The font on the tailgate is soo cool.....ugh...

Does anyone have an extra 3000 I can have?
I guess my father had one of these 60's Datsun trucks that he got rid of around the time I was born....I mentioned this one to him and he talked about his.  I didn't even know he had one.  He sold it to my uncle contacted him through my cousin but I guess it was taken to the scrapyard in the 90's after sitting behind a barn somewhere for a while.  I guess in the winter if you don't keep some type of antifreeze agent in the gas, it would freeze in the carb.  He said that all you had to do though was turn it off and wait for the heat of the engine to thaw it out then you could get going again.
If I already had my garage built I would take out a loan and put this in storage....

So cute.......put a motorcycle on that?

1975 Honda XL350

I took a 9 hour drive adventure to a suburb of St. Louis and back for another 1975 XL350 with a better engine.  The ice pellets from last night RUINED people.  I saw at least 50 semi trucks in the ditch ranging from stuck to upside down to jackknifed and wrapped around bridge legs.  One truck had reams of printer paper in it and it was scattered everywhere.  I hope everyone made it out safe.  On my way back the crews had only pulled about 25% of them out, some looked like they had given up.

Welcome to Illinois.  The state that is hard to spell correctly.
This is hard to see but there was a giant ketchup factory on the left.  I had never heard of the brand though.  Big 'ole bottle.

I couldn't ask anyone to ride along this time.  9 hours is bad enough but combine it with the weather and me babbling the whole time about whatever random thing comes to mind and you have a not so pleasurable experience.  Here is a list of the albums I listened to below on the paper.  Bands-->Mouse on mars, The Notwist, DAT Politics, The Clues, Arcade Fire, Neon Neon, Of Montreal, White lies, Simian Mobile Disco, We Were Promised Jetpacks, Nouvelle vague........
Thanks for keeping me company.

Signing my life away

I once read that part of growing up was realizing that you can't do everything.  It was in a Japanese book and things that you need to come to terms with during your 30's.  I don't know how much I believe this but when it comes to making welding look good and getting it all lined up the way it needs to be, I think should I leave this up to professionals, especially since it's my けつ on the line.......

Three Day Weekend

I once heard someone say the weekend only comes once a week........
Well this week it was extra long and though I didn't really appreciate it because I just got off holiday break from the classroom, it was fun filled to say the least....

Here is a little recap in photos.

Gotta drink the 'bucha in smoothies everyday.

House garage got a new friend.
Wiring on the CB100 officially commenced.
Waiting for a rectifier and condenser.

Runnin' low on herb so I hit my dealer up.........

A little light reading.

Engines and frames. Stickers and bolts.
Staying busy to stay busy.

Coloring is therapeutic.  Finding quotes like this is too.
Gun and knife show, first and last.

Moyou graduated to sleeping in the living room at night.
I have felt so bad about that stupid crate and have been waiting for this day for so so long.
Can't wait till I can trust her to be out during the day too.
I also have a prospect on another XL350 that will not require an engine rebuild....4.5 hrs both ways.  Two tanks of gas total....
That isn't too far right?
Hope for good weather on Saturday.  Maybe I will take the pup....she got car sick last time we were in the truck for 2 hours though.....probably too stressful for her.
