Clutch issues

Z read about drilling these out to get more oil between the plates....

which will hopefully let me shift easier...

CL activity

With my other project more ridable, I have been neglecting the CL.

Today she got new clutch plates, an on/off switch for the headlight, new oil, and a new speedo.  I took the mountain bike one off of this bike too.  Not reliable enough..... The one I put on is from a c102?  I think.  It only goes up to 60 but if you are going faster than that then its speeding anyway so......

I also rewired the rectifier to the battery.

Cut the foam, bought the marine vinyl, and made the seat pan already......

Can't really see much from this picture but the sides are on and sewn all the way around, even the front. First time I have tried this, it ended up looking nice in the front...a first for any of my seats...
Seat pan has been drilled every 2 to 3 inches or so for the rivets. The black duct tape is to cover the sharp edges and protect the seat material.
This is the seat on the bike. It was hard to get it to fit on perfect. The rise at the end of the seat made the vinyl crumple up some. Oh well. This is the most sturdy, comfortable seat I have ever made....for once I can ride the CL and not have to worry about my seat coming loose....

Cl engine rebuild appears to be a success. In the process of a seat right now. I hope to get it done soon.
Switching gears..to a single speed coaster brake hub. Gotta go get a new crank? yeah? I don't know much about these bike things without engines......
The Garden 2011. 4 types of tomatoes. Tomato plants from last year sneeeeking up through the soil too. Big bertha peppers, strawberries, and cucumbers for now. Just the basics but it will keep me busy......I have a little space left.... I want to do another tire patch garden with something with vines like pumpkins, watermelon, squash.....need another tire!

今日のガレージアドベンチャー

今日久しぶりに友達のポールとスケボーして、ブログをなんで最近英語で書いているのって聞かれた．なんでだろうね．．

それで、今夜はブログを日本語で書く事にした。

天気がよくなったから、学校から帰って、スケボーに行って来てからはだいたいガレージにいて、何をする。

新しいハードテールを乗れるようになってから、CLの修理、色々を始めた．今夜はそのCLの修理の続き。。。

１。エンジン完全オーバホール

２。電気線を新しくして、奇麗に〜

３。ヘッドライトを変える

４。新しいシートを作って付ける

５．ホークのシールを変えて、フォクーを一インチみじかくする

今日は電気線とヘッドライトが出来た。エンジンは修理屋さんに出してある。。。今週中に連絡が来るかな．．

週末は新しいシートとフォークをやろうかな。。。

新しいヘッドライトはこんな感じ。ボルトがでかくて付けにくかった。
まあ、前の状態見ないとこれが嫌いだと思わないかもしれないけど、結構シンプルになった。

ガレージ

Going to get 4 new tires tomorrow. I hope they don't have slow leaks.. I am going to ask them to put different tubes than they normally use. Biggest motorcycle tire stock in Indy, all installed with slow leaks....boo

The cl is getting internal wiring and a new seat among other things. I want to pop the engine in and ride when it comes back.....
Chimp tires smelled like mold. Bad sign....... Getting new ones!
Ct90 is also on the chopping block. I want to get this thing roadworthy soon. I already have a chain and the tank is getting the phosphorous treatment now.

Forks

I have been putting off doing this for as long as I can remember. Watched Rick do it and hate his life, then Tim....... At the end of the season my CL started leaking fluid. It was one of the two things I didn't go through when I built that bike because it was fine at the time and I knew I wanted to shorten them but not how much... blah blah blah I didn't do it...... Now I have a new project bike and the forks from this donor bike are also leaking so I decided to use this snow day from school (forth in a row...i am going to hate June) to not only rebuild but shorten them by 1.25 inches to match the height of the CL. I will take the forks currently on the CL off next and shorten and rebuild them for my new project as soon as I get the rear end completely figured out. .. . . . ANYWAY...here are some pictures.

Removed the circlip, old fork seals and bottom bolt. I struggled with the old fork seals until I found a 1 inch diameter pvc tube that popped them right off.
A lot happened between the last picture and now. I went to cyclerecycle for advice from Rob and finally decided to cut off the top of the rod about 1.25 inches, then rethread it (7mm 1.0). Then I used a vice to get the top cap off of it. I also ended up cutting the springs down almost and inch on each side. I wanted more load from the springs in the front since my travel went from about 3 inches to 1.75. The picture below is everything cleaned and ready for re-assembly.
New fork seals were not as bad to get in as I thought they would be. I used the old ones to slowly guide them in with a mallet. Locktite in all the appropriate spots. Specs call for about between 5.8 and 6.5 ounces of fork oil. Keeping in mind that there is less space for the oil to hang out in because I shortened things up, I added 5.5 ounces.

The main thing I did not do was add the locknut under the cap. Space was tight and I don't think it will cause any problems. I will keep the locknuts aside just in case I need them later....

Thanks to Rob at cyclerecycle (http://crc2onlinecatalog.com/) for the advice. No thanks to the 19mm open end wrench that decided it wanted to be a 20mm wrench while I was taking the cap off the second fork.

I have to do this to at least 1, probably 2 more sets of these in the next month or two. Not too bad but definitely a few hours worth of work.

Ramen as I write

Another productive weekend in the Fort.

First Ryan and I mounted the tubing bender to the loft. (Notice we also bent the bender....)

I have hated the way the back of my CL looks for a long time. This isn't perfect(or even really straight) but it looks and feels way better (and the welding won't break.....hopefully)
I also cleaned up the hardtail and brought it home to mock up the tank, fender, etc. before I go up next (weekend?)
And of course I got to spend time with the noise maker. Clicking, clacking, lipspitting....you name it she does it.

割と新しいケーブルだと思っていたけどな．．

今日新しいケーブルをつけたら．．全く違うバイクに乗っている感覚．．

桜とバイク

日本に住んでいた頃から花見の季節に日本に行っていない。。。 それで去年家の前に桜を育てることにした。
今年桜が咲きました！（色がちょっと違うかなって思ったけど）

やっぱりフレームからバイクを作ると、組み立てが終わっても色々な問題が浮かんで来た。。
最後のブログからその問題を修理したりして、昨日一時間ぐらいはなれているスケートパークに行って来た、問題なしで
今日、またバイクでスケボーに行って来た．．．．やっぱり春が来ました！
